God Maryland politics crack me up.
I don't know if I'm glad or sorry that the spectacular public sparring between fellow Democrats, Comptroller Willian Donald Schaefer and outgoing governor Paris Glendening doesn't happen in Virginia. Perhaps someone would care what goes on in Richmond if it made theater as good as
this. I picture that old curmudgeon Schaefer on a bicycle screaming "I want my 25000 dollars!" like the kid from Better Off Dead.
And for what it's worth, I hope Robert Ehrlich has just as hard a time with his comptroller as Glendening did. It would be only fair that Schaefer should be just as obstreperous and irritating to his formal opposition as he is to the members of his own party. For the record, does anyone know the origins of the Glendening/Schaeffer feud?
