I feel sick
Complete sugar binge at Starbucks on the way to work this morning. Ugh. Lunch sounds completely disgusting.
Oh, and for the record, this week's friday 5:
  • What's your current occupation? Is this what you chose to be doing at this point in your life? Why or why not?Java programmer for a small shop. Oddly enough, yes, this is what I chose to do with my life -- more or less. Why is too lengthy and too soul searching to interest me just now. Suffice to say the work and the people suit me on a profound number of levels. I like getting up to come to work in the morning.
  • If time/talent/money were no object, what would your dream occupation be? Excuse me. Occupation? If money were no object, what I did with my time would probably not be just one thing nor something that sounded coherent. I'd spend a ton of time working on and training for adventure races. At the same time not neglecting my child-to-be nor quitting programming. But how you get that to be an occupation is beyond me.
  • What did/do your parents do for a living? Has this influenced you? My father was a physicist. He's now gone. My mother hasn't worked in a couple of years but she's been a PM on civil engineering projects and a paralegal and a teacher. Yes this has all influenced my career choices. It would take too long to explain how.
  • Have you ever had to choose between having a career and having a family? Not yet. Having a kid in the next few months will certainly shed some light on this question, but while I will not do some career things I might otherwise do, I have a career and I don't see myself giving it up.
  • In your opinion what is the easiest job in the world? The hardest? Why?As others have commented, this is a poorly asked question because the answers are too subjective to be meaningful. I could probably master brain surgery more easily than I could become a real musician. Easy jobs are boring, so it's never occurred to me to spend time thinking about what would be easiest. Working at McDonalds is EASY but it's not rewarding. Yuck.
