Ok, I want to know: Who the fuck thought it was such a peachy keen idea to make most kids' carseats sit right smack in the middle of the backseat in such a way that it is patently miserable for anyone else to also sit in there, let alone reach the baby to get it in and out of the car?

What? Are we all supposed to only have one child at a time? Perhaps we're all supposed to transport only one child at a time. How am I ever going to get my dog in there, too? My first child can ride on the roof once the second child arrives. I'm sure that will work.

Note, I have not actually done much product research yet, but the last 3 child-having people into whose cars I have gotten all had this seemingly impractical construction. Is this safer for the child? What gives?
