Much to my self-amusement, I am now watching back-to-back episodes of old seasons of Buffy like a complete junkie. The reasons for this change are two fold. The first, FX runs two hours of Buffy a night from 6 until 8. The second, I am coming home so exhausted (pregnancy related) that as soon as I hit the door until dinner is ready (whether Reed properly cooks it or I just heat it up) I lay on the couch. And that time frame is WHEN, people?? From 6 until 8. Ding Ding Ding!! And there's oh-so-thoroughly NOTHING else on at that hour.
Anyhow, I laugh at myself, because every now and again I get all holier than thou about the TV, and it's not fair or real. I watched the train wreck that is Xena for about a year and you KNOW that's not fine programming. It used to entertain me chiefly by a combo of its self mockery and watching what an abortion they made of mythology-- Greek, Roman and occasionally other. Serving up a certain kind of headlong yet deliberate stupidity by the hour makes me happy for some reason. No idea why. I like B movies, too. Same thing I guess. (Interestingly I only watched it when, like Buffy, it was in reruns at about the 6:30 time slot every night and when it moved or reduced in schedule, I stopped watching it.) So whatever. I'm late to the tv party as usual.
