Once at my aunt's house, in front of my aged grandmother, a very religiousi and intolerant woman corned me demanding to know whether I had accepted Jesus as my savior and if I weren't afraid for my immortal soul because I'm living in sin with my then-fiance. After she left (without my having been rude to her --and you KNOW what that cost me), my grandmother made me feel incredibly accepted, loved and respected for my politeness. I have never been more proud of myself.
