Airline Games
So, it apears that I could go home to DC a few days early. My data conversion is chugging along. All the configuration work I can do is done. By and large, everything seems happy.

I call the airline to change my ticket and discover the stupidity of the rules. Aparently you can only change the date on which you RETURN from a destination. Change your outbound date and you have to pay for a full price ticket (less the amount they already bilked you for the first one.) Why am I outbound and not returning from Charleston? Because the brilliant genius, our travel agent put me on a one way ticket to get me here. It was cheaper.

Now, I call my office up to say that if I come home a day early it'll cost the company an extra 600 bucks and one of my coworkers disbelieves. He had called to check to make sure I could do this, and the agent assured him she COULD move my outbound date for a 100 bucks. No trouble sir. The only trouble was, when he called back, the next agent wouldn't do it either. I am somehow not at my narrative ironic best on this. Does this seem like a reasonable way to do business to you? If I'd played call-center roulette, I *might* have been able to get someone to actually accept my ticket change for 100 bucks, but that requires a certain degree of patience and frank sneakiness I somehow lack.

I guess I'm flying standby in the morning.
