I loved the books years ago. I do sometimes re-read them. But the movie versions are just as long winded as the books and the ends are even more unsatisfying somehow. In addition, I'm slightly tired of being beaten over the head with the "And the greenworld dies at the hands of the Industrial Revolution" theme. And I never learned to read Elvish, either. Thankyou I have enough things to do with my time that will have some bearing on my real life. When you've outgrown, your acne, your poor hygiene, and unwillingness to examine the world you actually live in, come talk to me.
None of this scoffing will prevent me from seeing the Return of the King when it comes out. I just find the whole thing way less exciting than everyone else it seems.
