I gave Reed a woodpecker house in addition to his design-geek toaster. He had to have some surprises. Since we have downies, pileateds and flickers in our yard often we thought we might actually get them to nest here. It's not nearly as stupid as putting up an eastern bluebird house inside the beltway. Pileateds are a little rare even though we see them pretty often, so I don't have my hopes up, but a nesting pair of downies would be fun.
