Steven Brust is pure unadulterated chewing gum. I don't ask for anything from him but light entertainment and he reliably delivers. As usual, I'm years late for reading a book of his (Cowboy Feng's) but it was good. If you don't mind yet another first person narrative by Steven Brust where the "I" is a wiseass in the middle of an unlikely mess, it's worth your time. Plot feels a little weaker than usual for him and even he calls it not his best work, but it focuses on Brust's deep love of food and folk music. And that's hard not to like.
Because I was thinking about him, I checked and sure enough, he's got a blog which he keeps in some shoddy home-grown cgi just like I used to use. However, much to my amusement and joy, I discovered he writes his novels in EMACS. Which isn't so surprising when you consider he turned into a writer because he was a laid off programmer.
Anyway, LOOK, it's a book review post. And this is what I've read lately.
